"Vacation Pitch" (audio)

"Vacation Pitch" [mp3 removed]

Video soundtrack (see below). The vocal snippets were taken from an, ahem, really low quality source and the waveforms had to be doctored, EQing them and removing drum hits and other unwanted transients. Mostly it's just vowel sounds. These types of pieces tend to sound like The Art of Noise. Playing vocals on a keyboard was very big in the '80s. Nevertheless it's fun to do and has whetted my appetite to try some more vocal alchemy.

Updated: reposted --this version is the same volume level as the video.

Based on material recycled from a post by jeff at Double Happiness.
All the visuals and vocalese came from there (plus one sound bite)--the music is mine and is the only thing added besides editing and compression artifacts.

Update: One link from a travel spam blog--we're off to a good start.

"Music - The Answer"

"Music - The Answer" [mp3 removed]

Some of the rhythmic ideas are reminiscent of DJ Mundo's great "Music - The Question," hence the title.
Have been wanting to do something with '80s-type arpeggiated sequencing for a while. This is another "8-Bit 2.o" track in that the rhythms are all SID chip samples I made with percussion sounds from the Sidstation synth (albeit played with a software sampler). I'm happy with this (as I usually am with things made after breaks or working for a long time on something else).

Update: Revised and reposted - quieter now.

Dirty LFO Illustrated

Found this image on a website (probably from Japan, not sure) that had a song of mine on running on autoplay whenever you hit the site. The site seems to have vanished. I've reposted the song here, below the image. This is a continuing series of content from this blog getting new contexts courtesy the WWW. Frank Stella would be very mad.
